From the controller to the wrist: the watch of “007 First Light”
In 007 First Light, players live through a reimagined origin story of James Bond at 26, developed by IO Interactive together with Amazon MGM Studios. Inside the game the Seamaster is far more than an accessory: it houses a hacking device able to interfere with electronic equipment, along with a powerful laser strap, in the finest tradition of Q’s gadgets.
Off screen, the real watch keeps every bit of a Diver 300M’s technical substance: a 44 mm stainless steel case, a polished black ceramic bezel with a white enamel diving scale, and pushers in black ceramic too, matching the bezel.
The dial, in black ceramic with laser-engraved waves, has been the collection’s visual signature since launch. The subdial at 3 o’clock has a bronzed PVD finish, and the word “Seamaster” appears in red —a quiet nod rather than a loud logo.
Calibre 9900: the chronograph that stands up to magnets
At the heart of the watch is the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9900, a self-winding movement with a 60-minute and 12-hour chronograph at 3 o’clock and a small seconds at 9.
What matters is not only that it times: it does so with superior magnetic resistance, the technology OMEGA developed so its movements keep running normally even near magnetic fields that would throw a conventional mechanical watch off the hour.
What does “Master Chronometer” mean? It is not merely a certified chronometer: every watch also passes eight additional METAS tests (the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology) under real magnetic conditions of up to 15,000 gauss. It is the most demanding level of certification OMEGA applies today.
The date sits at 6 o’clock, and the case back is sapphire crystal, with the “007 First Light” logo engraved in black metallisation on the glass —visible only in the right light, as befits a spy’s watch.
NATO straps: six options, one exclusive
The watch comes with an exclusive NATO strap created for this edition, drawn from the video game’s visual palette —black, grey and beige— and finished with a special buckle engraved “007” and “First Light”. If you prefer, it pairs with any of the six additional NATO straps OMEGA offers separately for the Seamaster family, without losing the 300-metre water resistance that gives the collection its name.
