The Speedmaster “First OMEGA in Space” pays tribute to the CK 2998 worn by Walter Schirra on October 3, 1962. A 39.7 mm brushed and polished steel case pairs with a black leather strap and steel pin buckle, preserving the second-generation style with contemporary refinement.
The black aluminum bezel carries the iconic tachymeter with DON (Dot Over Ninety). Beneath a sapphire crystal molded like hesalite, the blue-grey CVD-coated dial recalls vintage tones and features Alpha hands and hour markers with period Super-LumiNova, a white-varnished Baton seconds, and three registers (30-min at 3, 12-hour at 6, small seconds at 9). Vintage OMEGA logo on dial and crown; caseback with seahorse medallion and commemorative engravings. Powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, the modern take on the legendary 321.
