Hermès’ watchmaking story began in 1912, when Émile Hermès adapted a pocket watch for his daughter by adding two leather straps. Thus, time and leather craftsmanship came together, marking the beginning of a unique legacy: watches that don’t just measure hours but tell stories.

Throughout the 20th century, Hermès established its presence in fine watchmaking with creations such as Arceau, Cape Cod, and H Hour — icons known for their refined design and free spirit. In the 1990s, the maison reaffirmed its commitment to mechanical excellence by acquiring a stake in Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier and developing in-house movements, crafted with Swiss precision and soul.

Every Hermès watch expresses a singular vision of time — a mechanical poetry where technique and emotion coexist in harmony. The stirrup-shaped Arceau case, the modern geometry of the H08, and the delicate double-wrap Cape Cod embody the duality that defines Hermès: tradition and innovation, rigor and sensitivity, precision and artistry. Today, from its manufacture in Le Noirmont (Switzerland), over a hundred artisans continue the maison’s heritage. In every piece, matter becomes emotion; time becomes a way of life.
