This magnificent heritage watch pays tribute to the pioneering spirit that has encouraged Longines watchmakers since their inception. The brand has accompanied numerous pioneers by air, land and sea and illustrates the perpetuity of a firm and the ever-renewed ability to honor History, with refinement and elegance.

The Avigation Watch Type A-7 1935 watch pays homage to the past of Saint-Imier brand aviation watches. The new watch is inspired by a model ordered by the US Air Force in 1935 (we reviewed a model previously released here) and is designed to meet rigorous specifications in terms of aesthetics, durability and precision.

The new variation of the Longines Avigation Watch Type A-71935 is true to its pre-war aviation origins. The black dial of the model, shifted 40 degrees to the right and protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The large fluted crown, located at 12 o'clock, allowed the user to control the watch's chronograph functions simply by pressing the push-button inserted in its center.

The round stainless steel case measures 41 mm in diameter and houses the column-wheel chronograph movement, Caliber L788.2. It is protected behind a solid, engraved caseback that helps ensure the case's water resistance to 30 meters (3 bar).

The Type A-7 1935 adopts the dial design of its ancestor: its matte black dial is bordered by a white railway minute track and adorned with large honey-colored Arabic numerals for hours. The rhodium-plated “cathedral” hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova. Both subdials, outlined by their own white railroad tracks, use a vintage-style font for their numbers similar to those used for hours, and the small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock incorporates a date display window at rectangle shape, outlined in white. The counter at 12 o'clock marks 30 minutes elapsed when the chronograph is started.
