Maintenance recommendations from our watchmaking experts

How should you clean your watch?

For metal bracelets and water-resistant cases, it is recommended to use a damp, soapy toothbrush for cleaning. Use a soft cloth for drying. If you plan to go on vacation soon, we recommend that after a swim in the sea you should always wash your watch with warm tap water.

Preserve your leather strap

Leather straps require special care to avoid deterioration:

  • Protect your strap from water and moisture at all costs to avoid discoloration and deformation.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to preserve its color.
  • Avoid contact of the strap with greasy and cosmetic substances.

Avoid chemical products

How many of us know people who perfume their wrists? Although we love to groom ourselves, this is a bad idea if what we want is to preserve our watch in good condition. In this way, we must avoid direct contact of our watch with perfumes and cosmetics, but also with other harmful products of our day to day, such as solvents or detergents.

Beware of strong impacts and extreme temperatures

Although many high-end watch brands such as Omega, Breguet, Blancpain, Longines, Rado, Certina, Tissot or Swatch, are in accordance with the Official Standards of the Swiss Watch Industry (NIHS), strong impacts should be avoided.

In the same way, it is recommended not to expose your watch to sudden changes in temperature, or to extreme temperatures (more than 60 ° C, or less than 0 ° C).

The risk of exposure to magnetic fields

We are so used to be surrounded by magnetic fields in our daily lives that we often forget that they are there. However, we must not forget that in order to optimize the life expectancy of our watches it is advisable not to expose them to strong magnetic fields, such as loudspeakers, refrigerators, electronic devices, magnets, etc.
